These drawings were done in New York during July. It was hot but my body craved it. England makes one long for the sun even if it is uncomfortable. The drawings were done close to where my mother is in Peekskill NY., I had no car so I walked everywhere which is what I am used to in London. In New York this is a bit stranger but walking, like walking anywhere, opens up the street and new understandings about a place and its people. Enjoy the drawings below. I had no plan I was just responding to what caught my eye. America is a problematic place but I do love New York and its people. In some ways, especially with older New Yorkers, you have a connection to old Europe through second and first generation immigrants. Immigrants built and continue to build America and we can’t let idiotic and vile political narratives erase that contribution.
